I was born and raised right here in Kansas. I went to Saint Thomas Aquinas High School in Overland Park. I was on the forensics team; and during my first competition, I fell in love with being in front of an audience.
Four years later, I made my way down K-10 to become a Jayhawk. My college experience was fantastic. I became a Gamma Phi Beta, and was Vice President of Recruitment for the Panhellenic Executive Board. The best days were game days. In college, I had the opportunity to work as an intern for KCTV 5 in Kansas City. In May, 2011, I graduated with a Bachelor degree from the William Allen White School of Journalism.
During my senior year, I had the privilege of working as an intern at 6News. Working here made me realize that I definitely chose the right career path for myself. My first thought when I watched one of my stories was a feeling that I’ll always remember. It was incredible. I look forward to continuing my conversation with the people of Lawrence and I am excited to learn even more about this vibrant city.
I am thrilled to be your reporter and to tell the stories that you want to know about. I’m excited to begin my career in Jayhawk Nation. Send me tips or ideas at apruett@6newslawrence.com; and feel free to call at 785-832-6327.
