Mike AndersonOriginally from St. Paul, MN, Mike Anderson has spent the last five years in Lawrence working on his Masters degree and Ph.D. in communication studies at the University of Kansas.
Mike has taught courses at KU on persuasive speaking, public speaking, relational communication, and behavioral research methods, among others. Mike's research examines sexual communication in romantic relationships. His dissertation was on communicating sexual fantasies. His work has appeared in the Journal of Sex Research, INK magazine, and the University Daily Kansan. From 2007-2011 Mike hosted a call-in radio show on KJHK 90.7 about sex and romantic relationships called Kansas In Heat.
In his free time Mike enjoys sports, playing the guitar, watching movies, fireworks, and exploring the streets of Lawrence. One of Mike's favorite parts of Lawrence is the amount of live music. He enjoys the chance to listen to live music seven days a week. His favorite movie is Boogie Nights, his favorite artists/bands are Prince, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, James Brown, and Roy Orbison. His favorite song changes frequently, but currently it is "Race You" by Figurines. His comic influences are Bill Murray, Dave Chappelle, and Steve Guttenberg.
Hallie SteeleHallie Steele served as Mike's trusty and foul-mouthed sidekick.
She studied communications at KU. Hallie enjoys entertaining people, dancing and KU Basketball.
On Thursday, July 14th, 2011, Hallie died after collapsing during a Kansas City, Mo., concert. The Not So Late Show enjoyed having her as a cast member on the show. She will be greatly missed.

Born and raised in Wichita, KS (but don’t hold that against me). Went on to graduate from K.U. with a degree in theater and film. From there I began work with the fine folks at the Kansas City Film Office where I was quickly passed on to Maplewood Productions and Universal Pictures to assist in the making of Ang Lee’s “Ride with the Devil.” I then returned to Lawrence and became a part owner of isoar Productions where we produced a comedy cooking show and many other projects including commercials, special events and short independent dog dramas.
More recently, I have found a home here at Free State Studios where I am lucky enough to produce The Not So Late Show, Jayni’s Kitchen and Home and Away.
My only regret so far is that I have yet to lift my own body weight, but I’m confident that through a steady regimen of procrastination it may one day be possible.
