Knology’s 2012 Clean Our Communities initiative and Outdoor Channel’s volunteer program,
Outdoor Channel Corps – are partnering with the Lawrence Boys and Girls Club to give the outdoor playground area a face lift by providing mulch, picnic tables and outdoor seating, as well as a new landscape.
“It is a privilege to be able to give back to our community,” says Christina Phelps, Knology of Kansas Sales and Marketing Manager. “We look forward to being out in our community and working together to improve and rebuild the outdoor play area, giving the kids a safe environment to enjoy the outdoors.”
Each April, Knology chooses an area in each of its markets as part of its Clean Our Communities initiative and encourages community members to join forces in carrying out city-wide cleanup efforts. The initiative aligns with Outdoor Channel Corps philanthropic effort to mobilize volunteers to restore and improve public lands and spaces to ensure that the outdoor lifestyle thrives in local communities across the United States.
“Volunteerism is the cornerstone of the Outdoor Channel Corps program, and Outdoor Channel prides itself on being an active leader in the communities we serve. This marks our third year collaborating with Knology, a valued cable services partner, for its Clean Our Communities initiative. We’re happy to work alongside the Knology team on activities that will create a lasting impact in the Lawrence community,” said Jeff Schmal, vice president of marketing and research for Outdoor Channel.
