Man arrested for exposing himself on turnpike
Lawrence- A 22-year-old Topeka man was arrested this week after Kansas Highway Patrol troopers say he was repeatedly masturbating while driving on Interstate 70 and showing his genitals to the toll booth collector at the east Lawrence exit of the Kansas Turnpike.
"Monday he came through the tool booth and when he paid his toll his pants were unzipped, everything was hanging out and the collector got an eyeful," says trooper Mark Christesen.
Authorities say it started back in January, when Baldwin would exchange lewd pictures with his wife while driving and then leave them in plain sight for the toll booth operator to see. Christesen says that happened two or three times. The toll booth worker told authorities Baldwin returned Monday and exposed his genitals, Christesen said, and officers devised a plan to catch him in the act.
The suspect, Joseph Baldwin, was arrested Tuesday morning for lewd and lascivious behavior and for possession for marijuana that officers say was found in the car when they pulled him over.
Baldwin was released from Douglas County Jail Wednesday. The Douglas County District Attorney's office says it is waiting for the report before determining whether to file charges.
