KU law professor Stephen Ware was arrested Monday morning for domestic battery.

Ware was arrested around 6 a.m. at his home in the 1100 block of Brynwood Court, police said. Officers said a woman reported she was battered by her husband during a domestic incident.

Police said marks were found on the woman’s arms. The woman was not hospitalized.

Ware was booked into jail on one count of domestic battery. District attorney Charles Branson said the arrest would be reviewed Tuesday, since state courts were closed Monday for President’s Day.

Ware joined the KU Law School in 2003, according to his university biography.

“This is not something the university or the law school can comment on,” said Jill Jess, university spokeswoman.
