High schools hope to make room for growth

By 6News Staff on September 10, 2012

Improving Lawrence elementary schools is priority number one for the district, as officials prepare to send a bond issue to Lawrence voters. But there's also some needs at the city's two high schools that could warrant some attention during the process.

Despite a new crop of ninth graders the district's high school enrollment numbers are down this year.

That trend is not expected to last, and officials are hoping to set aside some money to expand the Lawrence High cafeteria and add more classroom space at Free State.
