Motorcycle driver dies from injuries in US 59 Highway accident

A motorcycle accident on US 59 Highway around 10:00 p.m. Monday evening resulted in the death of a 61-year-old man.

Lieutenant Steve Lewis with the Douglas County Sheriff's office said deputies responded to reports of a motorcycle in the median of the 200 block of US 59 Highway. He said deputies found a seriously injured driver that had life threatening injuries.

The driver, Randall Lusk of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, was taken by air ambulance to Overland Park Regional Hospital. Lewis said Sheriff's deputies and the Kansas Highway Patrol continued to work the scene of the accident overnight. Officials closed the road South of the Baldwin Junction as well as the South bound lanes of U.S. 59.

He said Lusk was pronounced dead Tuesday morning due to injuries from in the accident.

Lewis said the Sheriff's office is looking for people who may have been in the area of 59 Highway, just south of Baldwin Junction, last night around 10:00 p.m. Anyone that may have information about the accident is urged to call Detective Scott Bonham at 785-832-5201.
