On February 17, staff was called to pick up the cat in the 1100 block of Indiana Street.  Shelter staff says the cat is in good condition. They call him a flame point cat which means he’s handsome and well taken care of. They believe he is a house cat because his front paws have been declawed. He is neutered and they suspect he is about 5 years old. Officials also suspect the three-legged feline belongs to someone who came into the shelter about 3 months ago searching for their three-legged cat.

“We have checked with all the local vets to see if anyone knows of this cat being their patient and then we said we’ll try posting it on craigslist and see if we can get him reunited,” said Dori Villalon, the Executive Director of the shelter.

One in three pets will go missing during their lifetime and Villalon says nationally, cats are only recovered 1% of the time. They are hopeful someone will recognize the animal because of its distinctive ‘missing’ hind leg.
