All year long, the Lawrence St. Patrick’s Day Parade committee has been busy raising funds to support three local charities. It held another fundraiser Sunday night, that attracted record numbers for the annual event.
Tables full of trivia enthusiasts crowded into Lawrence’s Eagles Lodge for Trivia Night Pub Quiz. This was the ninth year for the event. All money raised goes to charity. A spokesperson for the committee says the support has been tremendous. “We’re a socially active committee that supports charities, children’s charities around town, and to date, we’ve give back a half a million dollars to children’s local charities,” Roger Browning said.
This year’s selected charities include Cooper’s Cause Foundation, Imagine Drop-In Childcare and Junior Achievement.
The parade has been a fixture in Lawrence for 24 years. Every year after the parade, the charities receive the money raised by the committee.
The trivia night organizer says the quiz event is a wonderful way to help out. “We’re really glad to make a contribution and help out some great groups,” Scott McDaniel said.
