Lawrence city commission candidates debate the issues
The five candidates for Lawrence City Commission were invited to a public forum Monday night. Each person was asked a series of questions about how they would serve the city of Lawrence.
The candidates include Sven Alstrom, Hugh Carter, incumbent Mike Dever, Mike Machell and Bob Schumm. Questions during the Voter Education Coalition forum included, “Would you support keeping the homeless shelter downtown?” and “what area of government needs to be changed?”
The hour-long event was held in the city commission chambers at city hall. The coalition will host another forum next Monday, March 21, 7 p.m., Peace Mennonite Church, 615 Lincoln.
