LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Based on how Kansas has performed in the past, Charlie Weis says he has no quarrel with his Jayhawks being picked at the bottom of the Big 12. After all, they won a mere five games the past two seasons under Turner Gill. Since 1945, the Kansas football team has won as many as nine games only three times. Weis, a three-time Super Bowl winner and former Notre Dame head coach, says he believes people would be startled to see how much progress his players have made in the past year. And he was amused to hear some Texas players whispering about how impressive they thought quarterback Dayne Crist looked.
